Raised in Columbia, Tennessee, James M. Marshall graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1988. He attended Auburn University where he graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pre-Law Political Science. In 1993, James spent a year at Memphis State University in Memphis, Tennessee, working on a Master's in Business Administration (MBA), before being accepted to the Nashville School of Law. While attending the Nashville School of
s clerked for two Nashville law firms, Leitner, Williams, Dooley & Napolitan, PLLC, and Stewart, Estes & Donnell, PLLC. Upon graduating from the Nashville School of Law in June 1997, James passed the Bar exam in November 1997, and began practicing law in Columbia, Tennessee. James was an associate with Fleming, Flynn, Holloway & Sands, P.C., from 1998 to 2001, before going into sole practice in 2001. James continues as a sole practitioner in association with Attorney Megan Tull.
James is a member of the Williamson County and Maury County Bar Associations. He has practiced for over twenty-three years, during which time he has successfully tried hundreds of domestic, criminal and civil litigation cases, including both jury and non-jury trials. He is also a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 trained Family Law Mediator.
James has three amazing children, Wesley, Jack, and Emma Grace.
